POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
カフェ コレクション
This Kitashirakawa, Kyoto café serves generous omelette rice with onions and mushrooms, chicken-skin butter rice, spaghetti with white sauce and more. Save room for coffee and cheesecake made without wheat flour.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Omelette rice is one of Cafe Collection’s signature dishes, filled with ingredients such as onion, mushrooms and green peas. Diners have praised the balance of the fillings and the pleasure of mixing them with ketchup; some also note that even the M size is generous. The menu offers a meat-free version, making it an option whether you want a substantial meal or would prefer to choose your fillings.
Another distinctive choice is chicken-skin butter rice, a house speciality made with rice, chicken skin and parsley. Diners who ordered it alongside the omelette rice have remarked that both M-size portions were very filling. Choose the omelette rice for a leisurely meal, or the chicken-skin butter rice when you feel like something a little different.
The spaghetti selection ranges from familiar mentaiko and cod roe options to white sauce made with milk, butter and cream, as well as tomato sauce. One diner who tried the garlic and red pepper spaghetti remembered its generous amount of sauce and a savoury flavour reminiscent of shio ramen broth. It is worth considering if you would like a saucier take on pasta.
For dessert, there is cheesecake made with Danish cream cheese and sour cream, without wheat flour. Other choices include chocolate cake made with French chocolate and homemade amanatsu marmalade, as well as apple and banana pound cakes. Pair one with coffee or an espresso.
The café is presented as suitable for dining alone or in a group, and offers options for different occasions, from lunch to a quiet pause over cake and a drink.
